Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Transport Manager, to coordinate, supervise and monitor all activities in the area of: Third Party Transporters, Export, Company Fleet Management and other related activities.
Job Details
The Logistics and Transport Officer shall be responsible for:
Third-Party Transporters:
- Monitor each business partner with respect to fleet availability.
- Manage the degree of reliability (Performance rating) of third-party transporters.
- Check the validity of the Goods in Transit Insurance regularly of third-party transporters.
- Organize stake holders’ meetings periodically.
- Provide alternatives where regular third-party transporters are not available.
- Get more transporters into the business where necessary.
- Check and authenticate WAYBILLS for payment of transporters claims.
- Make proposals for rate review when necessary.
- Compile weekly and monthly report regarding the management of third-party transporters.
Export:
- To coordinate export activities from Ghana and may be required.
- Liaise with IBD/B2B/ and other stakeholders in shipping out products to other countries.
- Monitor / track goods from departure to destination.
- Scrutinize transporter’s bill and authenticate for payment.
Managing Company Fleet:
- Ensure the availability of sales and delivery vans at locations that may be determined by the sales department.
- Take oversight of tracking; checking and authenticating log sheets
- Reporting any significant incidents in the field.
- Compiling daily, weekly and monthly reports.
- Ensuring all company fleet follow planned maintenance schedule; book fleet for maintenance at regular intervals.
- Ensure renewal of all fleet documents; road worthy and insurance.
- Supervise drivers and operators and constantly sensitizing them on defensive driving mechanisms.
Requirements
Skills and Attributes Required:
- Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with and manage a team.
- Ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Power Point
- Ability to work extra hours as may be required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Analytical and the ability to think on his/her feet.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- A conscious SAFETY champion at all levels of operation.
Qualification:
- HND/degree in Supply Chain Management or related.
- At least 3 years’ post national service experience/exposure in similar position.
